This stone was an unusual choice for me because it is composite turquoise, which means that is it fabricated by taking turquoise powder and mixing it with a resin. Usually I do not choose stone items that are man-made, but the colors of this material kept calling me. The striation of blues and browns reminds me of canyons and rivers. The utterly organic nature of the stripes and the contrast of colors was so appealing that I decided to use this turquoise in a variety of shapes and sizes. I have accented it with Tiger’s Eye to make it even earthier and turquoise colored crystals to make it sparklier, like water. Accents like the fossilized ammonite pendant and the snake clasp further enhance the rocky landscape theme.
