Renaissance jewelry conjures up images of lustrous and decorative motifs, jeweled treasures, adorned with rubies, sapphires and pearls. During this “rebirth”, known as the Renaissance, the acquisition of wealth came into vogue in European Society. Jewelry in this time served two functions; firstly as a demonstration of one’s wealth, and secondly as a concentration of wealth, should there be a relapse into the Dark Ages. The goldsmiths of the Renaissance had a great appreciation for the motifs of the ancient Etruscans, evidenced by the ubiquity of fine, ornate details seen in the pieces of the era. Inspiration for our collection comes from a collaboration of the beautiful portraits, architecture, and craftsmanship of the time. Our collection is comprised of intricate metalwork, decorative and lockets, and richly colored faceted stones and crystals.
