Greco-Roman

This beautiful collection is handcrafted from genuine Ancient Roman Glass. Much like today, ancient Roman glass was used to make a myriad of objects, from decorative showpieces to everyday containers. Roman glass items are routinely found when farmers are plowing their fields. Larger specimens are valued for their beauty and importance. Little shards are sold to dealers who buy them and turn them into small disks, like the ones you see in our collection. The glass varies in color, although the predominant shade is green-blue. The variation in the size, shape, and patina makes this material particularly special. Every piece we make will be unique and yet the overall effect is consistent enough that this collection can be carried by our catalog customers. We have combined the glass with cultured pearls and decorative bronze motifs which are in keeping with elements seen in Ancient Roman Jewelry. Please note, the Ancient Romans wore decorative clasps in front or on the side of the neck.
Because they are so enchanting and appropriate for Roman jewelry, we added a few enticing semi-precious stones to this collection: luminescent Chalcedony drops with vermeil tops, faceted Prehnite, smooth green Aventurine and rich blue Lapis drops with granulated bead caps, and iridescent slices of Labradorite encased in vermeil. Made in the USA.
