Coral is such a beautiful color, but it is against our mission to use the ones plucked out of the sea. I rejoiced when I sourced this bamboo coral that is farmed, like any other crop, for commercial purposes. This is an ecologically friendly way to enjoy wearing this gemstone.
Coral has been valued for it’s natural beauty for centuries. Excellent examples of coral jewelry can be found in many cultures. Tibetan, Roman, and Victorian examples first come to my mind. Many 19th Century paintings feature children wearing coral necklaces. This is because coral was thought to ward off diseases and evil. Today many designers still create jewelry that features color for it’s healing energy.
