Our Greco-Roman Jewelry is rich in vibrant colors and textures. The Romans used a diverse selection of materials in their jewelry due to the accessibility of a wide variety of natural resources found across their European and Mediterranean dominion. They also had an extensive trade network, which gave them access to exotic materials and precious stones that traveled along the ancient Silk Road. Much of Roman jewelry was fashioned by Greek artisans, in the Greek style, and pieces were worn in a functional as well as decorative manner to display status, wealth and power. Although much of the jewelry produced in early Rome resembled Greek and Etruscan jewelry, new motifs were developed or derived from other cultures, and remained well-established throughout the ancient Roman period. Gems such as lapis, carnelian, and pearl were prevalent, in addition to popular motifs wrought in gold, such as coils, snakes and granulated textures. It is with this historical influence that we have crafted the pieces in our signature collection. Made in the USA.
